Common Questions About Acupuncture
What is acupuncture and how does it work?
- Acupuncture is a holistic healing practice rooted in Chinese medicine that uses fine, sterile needles to stimulate specific points on the body. It helps restore balance, improve circulation, and support the body’s natural healing response.
Does acupuncture hurt?
- Most people feel little to no discomfort during treatment. The needles are extremely thin—about the width of a hair. Many clients describe the experience as deeply relaxing.
What conditions can acupuncture help with?
- Acupuncture supports a wide range of health concerns, including stress, anxiety, insomnia, pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, allergies, fatigue, and immune support.
How many treatments will I need?
- Every person’s healing journey is unique. Acute conditions may improve in just a few sessions, while chronic issues may require ongoing care. During your initial consultation, a personalized treatment plan will be created for you.
Is acupuncture safe?
- Yes. When performed by a licensed acupuncturist, acupuncture is extremely safe. Sterile, single-use needles are always used, and treatments are customized to your health and comfort.
What can I expect during my first appointment?
- Your first session includes a detailed health consultation, tongue and pulse assessment, and a tailored treatment. This is all done in the quiet comfort of your home. Most clients feel calm, grounded, and restored post treatment.
What should I do before and after my treatment?
- Eat a light meal beforehand, stay hydrated, and wear comfortable clothing. After your session, rest if possible and drink plenty of water to support your body’s healing process.
Can acupuncture be combined with Western medicine or other treatments?
- Absolutely. Acupuncture works beautifully alongside conventional medicine, physical therapy, or mental health care to enhance overall outcomes.
Do you offer treatments for stress, anxiety, or sleep issues?
- Yes. Many clients find acupuncture deeply helpful for regulating the nervous system, improving sleep, reducing stress, and creating emotional balance.
How far do you travel for mobile appointments?
- I currently serve clients in the Low Country of South Carolina. If you’re outside this area, please contact me to discuss options.
Is mobile acupuncture as effective as in-office treatments?
- Yes—often even more so, because you’re in your own environment where your body can deeply relax and integrate the treatment without stress or travel afterward.
Do you accept insurance?
- I do not bill insurance directly, but I can provide a detailed receipt (superbill) for potential reimbursement through your provider.
What forms of payment do you accept?
- Credit/debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and cash are all accepted.
Do you offer Gift Cards?
- Yes, gift cards are available for purchase here.
What is your cancellation policy?
- Because your appointment time is reserved just for you, I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment. Appointments canceled within 24 hours will incure a fee of 50% of the scheduled appointment. Appointments cancelled within 12 hours of the scheduled time will incur a fee of 100% of the scheduled appointment.
